Here we go again - another Clambake that was the best ever! Well, one
thing is for sure - this was a Harding Shores Clambake like none other before
it! This year, we had the excitement of the high tide, the uncertainty of
just exactly how high it would go, and the great feeling of community effort as
everyone pitched in to help move tables and chairs up the hill.
Great Job, Everyone!!! The early morning helpers with the rocks and pallets - without you it wouldn't have happened! Anyone who pitched in to carry a rock or a pallet, to make chowder or brownies, to help assemble the cooking fire, to help carry tables and chairs - everyone's input helped make this day memorable! Special thanks - for the first and hopefully only time - to the brave and intrepid engineers who fought the waves and wind and tide - and held them back until our dinners were cooked! Rich, Mark, Hank, Andy, Mike, Andy - and anyone else who swung a shovel, mounded sand - Thanks! Thanks, Christel- every year you amaze us all by having the advance planning and operations in place for a 5-course meal for about 150 to 200 people on the beach come off without a hitch! Outstanding! Thanks to my wonderful daughter, stunning assistant, and up-and-coming master cook Kate! Kate is doing more and more every year - pretty soon I'll sit back and watch! Great Job, Kate !! Thank you Bill Jonas and his helpers at the grill - the steaks were great, as usual! Thanks to Bill and Maria for their incredible video memory of the day! Too many others for individual thanks, but you know who you are! Thanks so much! I say it every year, and here I go again, but there is a woman behind the scenes who makes it all happen for me: thanks to my beautiful wife, Mary - she's there all day as an incredible support! I get to stand on the beach burning wood, drinking beer and iced tea and talking with friends all day -- what a way to spend a nice day! Thanks, Mary! |
